Facial Identification Management Solution
The 3M Cogent Facial Identification Management Solution
(CFIMS) is a unique modular application suite that allows
facial image verification and comparison in an easy-to-use,
web-based interface.
There is an increasing need from the government to use
facial recognition as part of the identity credentialing and
ID document issuance process. CFIMS can ensure secure
validation of travel or ID documents and biometric verification
of the document holders' identity. CFIMS provides essential
tools that can be integrated into existing and future identity
credentialing and document issuance systems for ePassports,
biometric enabled Visas documents, drivers' licenses, ID
cards, etc.
CFIMS packages, schedules, and manages facial image data
for delivery to a range of facial recognition matching modules using 3M Cogent's advanced and proven facial
matching algorithm (scoring in the top tier of the NIST Multiple Biometric Grand Challenge), and manages the
returned results for verification at workstations connected to the system.

Modules:
Enrollment
Our Enrollment Module features live full frontal facial image
capture, photo scanning, and image centering based on the spatial
analysis of the location of the eyes. Built-in quality control checks
ensure images conform to ISO 19794-5/ICAO requirements and
best practices for digital facial portraits by examining a number
of criteria to ensure that the quality of the photo (e.g., location of
the eyes, head position, exposure, contrast, resolution, etc.) is
acceptable.
1:1 Verification
Our Verification Module analyzes two photographs and verifies if
both photographs are the same person. This module also provides
automated photo normalization to facilitate the verification
process.
1:Few Comparison
Our Watchlist Module compares the provided photograph with a
predetermined list of candidates for a positive match. If a 100%
match cannot be determined, the search will return a candidate
list allowing the user to determine the best possible match. Fully
scalable, the number of watchlists and the size of the watchlists
can be customized to meet the agency's needs.
1: N Searching
Our Identification Module expands the capabilities of the Watchlist
Module to a full scale database search. It allows for a centralized
agency-wide search that can be accessed through a web-based
or custom designed interface. It is fully scalable to meet the
agency's evolving needs.
